The good news is that \u00a0Heart disease can often be prevented when people make healthy choices and manage their health conditions. As part of American Heart Month, we at Medisafe chose to join the efforts of raising awareness and give our users <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3 pointers and actions on how to lower your risk of Heart disease.<\/span><!--more--><br \/>\n<b>A. Eat For Your <\/b><b><i>Heart <\/i><\/b><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Healthy diets have a great positive effect on our health and helps prevent many diseases. When specifically discussing Heart Disease, here are two foods that we feel you should know their affect:<\/span><br \/>\n<b><i>Salt-OUT<\/i><\/b><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Based on a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mmwr\/preview\/mmwrhtml\/mm6452a1.htm?s_cid=mm6452a1_w\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">study from the CDC<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, most Americans continue to consume too much sodium despite dietary guidelines or existing health conditions: <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe finding that nine of ten adults and children still consume too much salt is alarming,\u201d said CDC Director Tom Frieden, MD, MPH. \u201cThe evidence is clear: too much sodium in our foods leads to high blood pressure, a major risk factor for heart disease and stroke. Reducing sodium in manufactured and restaurant foods will give consumers more choice and save lives.<\/span><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.medisafe.com\/main-site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Fotolia_48632941_S.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1768\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1768 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.medisafe.com\/main-site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Fotolia_48632941_S-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"girl preparing healthy food vegetable salad\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So how much salt is too much? For optimal heart-health, the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.heart.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">American Heart Association<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> recommends: \u201cAim to eat no more than 1,500 milligrams of sodium per day. That level is associated with a significant reduction in blood pressure, which in turn reduces the risk of heart disease and stroke. Because the average American\u2019s sodium intake is so excessive, even cutting back to no more than 2,400 milligrams a day will significantly improve blood pressure and heart health.\u201d \u00a0For more information about recommended sodium intake, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sodiumbreakup.heart.org\/sodium-411\/how-much-sodium-do-you-need\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">click here<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><br \/>\n<b><i>Fat- IN. But&#8230;<\/i><\/b><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to new research in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Journal of the American Heart Association: <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cEating healthier fats could save more than a million people internationally from dying from heart disease, and the types of diet changes needed differ greatly between countries\u201d <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Foods that contain \u201chealthy fats\u201d include avocados, olive oil, raw nuts, \u201cfatty fish\u201d such as salmon, trout, mackerel, sardines and herring. On the other hand, stay far away from deep fried food, commercially baked goods and fast food- those are loaded with trans fats and saturated fats that your heart surely does not agree with.<\/span><br \/>\n<b style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">B. Control High Blood Pressure<\/b><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> High Blood Pressure is <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.webmd.com\/heart-disease\/guide\/heart-disease-risk-factors\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the most common heart disease risk factor.<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> If you have hypertension, keeping a close eye on your Blood Pressure will help you on this front as well.
