There is nothing like the summer to relax and enjoy special moments with family and friends, but here at Medisafe<\/a> we want you to be safe so here are a few quick tips for a healthy season.

\nLotion, Lotion, Lotion.<\/b>
\nUVA and UVB are the rays that cause Cancer, and they\u2019re always around (even in the winter) 30 minutes before you go outside, apply a generous amount of Sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher. Do it every day, and over your entire body. If you\u2019re doing extensive outdoor activities, use a water-resistant, broad spectrum (UVA\/UVB) sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher.
\nMedisafe tip: You must reapply sunscreen every two hours or immediately after swimming or excessive sweating. We suggest you set a reminder on your phone so you don\u2019t forget! Do so especially if you\u2019re out with kids.
\nCover up!
\n<\/b>
\nWe know it\u2019s hot out, but protect your skin and try to cover as much as you can, even with a thin material. Wear a hat and sunglasses to protect your face as well.
\nMedisafe tip: More than for us adults, the sun is even more harmful for babies and toddlers. An infant's sunburn can lead to dehydration or heat strokes. As for newborns, physicians typically recommend keeping them away from direct prolonged exposure to the sun. If your baby is not yet six months – Dress them in cool, comfortable, long sleeved clothes (such as cotton) along with a sunbonnet. Apply sunscreen if your baby is still showing some skin. When putting your child in a stroller, pick up the stroller hood for even more shade.
\nGet out of that tanning bed!
\n<\/b>
\nSome seem to think a tanning bed is a better option than tanning in the sun. According to Mayo Clinic:<\/a> \u201cExposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation damages your skin, whether the exposure comes from tanning beds or natural sunlight. This damage increases the risk of skin cancer and premature skin aging. In fact, tanning beds emit UVA rays \u2014 which might increase the risk of melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer.\u201d
\n\u2018Nuff said.
\nMedisafe tip: If you\u2019re still looking for how to get that tanned look, try using a sunless tanning lotion or mousse.
\nTake a look at yourself<\/b>
\nThe Skin Cancer Foundation recommends you check yourself on a monthly basis. How? Examine your body in front of a body length mirror and look carefully if any new spots or moles appeared on your body. Use a hand mirror when needed or ask a friend, spouse or family member to help you out in the spots you can\u2019t see yourself (like behind the ears, your scalp or your feet). \nGet your yearly screening

\nGet yourself to a dermatologist once a year or as often as recommended, depending on your risk.
